Our School Facilities: A Place for All-Round Growth

The learning environment at Te Kura A Rohe O Whaingaroa – Raglan Area School extends well beyond the traditional classroom. Nestled in the beautiful Whaingaroa area, our kura offers a blend of specialised resources and open spaces that truly reflect our coastal setting and bicultural commitment. Our facilities are designed to support our unique Year 0-13 curriculum, foster community connection (Whanaungatanga), and provide diverse opportunities for academic, cultural, and sporting excellence. We invite you to explore our school site; a place that motivates and enables our students to grow, learn, and thrive at Raglan Area School.

Modern Learning & Specialist Spaces

Our kura offers specialised spaces that empower students across all curriculum areas. These include our recently upgraded Art, Digital Technology, Science, Materials and Food Technology rooms, ensuring students are learning with modern equipment. We are in the planning stages for a new Music Suite and Library.

Outdoor Education & Physical Activity

Our facilities fully leverage our beautiful location. We feature a large sports field, a completely overhauled swimming pool (2024), and a new outdoor covered Sports Dome for all-weather physical activity to add much needed space to our widely used school hall. For our Outdoor Education programmes, we utilise an upgraded outside classroom and adjacent facilities, which include a hangi pit, a bike track, and dedicated stations for abseiling and archery, and easy access to the sea for kayaking and waka ama. We also have a student favourite, the skateboard half pipe ramp, on site.

Environmental Connections

Our connection to the environment (Kaitiakitanga) is visible everywhere. We have direct walking access to the surrounding moana and peninsula, providing an irreplaceable learning context. Our Environmental Learning facilities include two harakeke gardens, a new compost station in the school nursery, and the exciting new Food Forest project, all integrated into student learning.

Our Rūmaki Unit: Te Rōpū Aroha Ki Te Reo

Our commitment to Whakanuia te mātauranga i te taiao kākano rua (Celebrating Education In A Bicultural Environment) is centred in our Rūmaki unit, Te Rōpū Aroha Ki Te Reo. This unit provides a vibrant, total immersion environment where Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori are the living languages of learning and socialisation. The physical space of the Rūmaki unit is intentionally designed to be culturally responsive, providing a dedicated, nurturing environment where our students connect with their heritage and achieve educational success with pride in their unique identity.
