Update on Kura Tuakana Activities in Term 2
Kia ora e te whānau, here is a snapshot of learning in action from Kura Tuakana students Term Two 2022.
Creatives
Year 10 students have had the amazing opportunity to work with local jeweller and artist Sarah Stead as part of a creatives in School s grant. Like Freedom to Fly this grant is about creating opportunities for students to explore their creativity in a different contexts and connecting with creatives in our community. Students have been creating their own taonga from copper, bronze etc. The programme will end with an interesting exhibition and Social Action. |

WYLD (Waikato Young Leaders Day)
WYLD Our Year 9 future leaders attended the Waikato Young leaders Day at the Waikato University where they connected with community leaders and other students. |

Youth Day
Earlier this term RAS combined with the Community house and The Yard to organise a Youth Event for our community. We would like to acknowledge Cuba Godward and William Millward for their awesome DJ skills leading this event. |

Canterbury University Exams
This term our top academic students entered the Canterbury Univeristy Exams. They completed examinations in Science, Maths and English. We are excited about this as a new enrichment area and to support our students with examination skills. |

Year 7 & 8 Leadership
Year 7 & 8 Leadership team has stared with a rush of excitement as they start planning some exciting events and ways to support students at our kura. They have already met with Whaea Louisa discussing their ideas and what they want to achieve. Watch this space. |

Dragons Den
Year 7 and 8 students produced an excellent in school market day. The students displayed high levels of creativity and business skills. We are grateful to all the whanau who supported as often behind any great dragons den there is a whānau supporting!
