Principal’s Message

Tēnā koutou e te whānau

On behalf of our students, staff, and Board of Trustees, I extend a very warm welcome to you and your family. Whether you are a current part of our community or considering joining us, we are delighted you’ve taken the time to visit our new website.

Te Kura a Rohe o Whaingaroa / Raglan Area School is truly a special place. As a comprehensive Area School (Years 0-13 students), we have the unique opportunity to educate students from their very first day of school right through to their final steps into tertiary education or the world of work. This continuity allows us to foster a deep sense of whanaungatanga (connection, relationship, and belonging) throughout a student’s entire schooling journey.

Our identity is intrinsically linked to our stunning coastal location and our commitment to celebrating education in a bicultural environment.

Our Foundation

Our school is built on strong values that guide everything we do:

  • Poutama (we are resilient and aspire to excellence)
  • Whanaungatanga (we are inclusive and connect genuinely with others)
  • Manaakitanga (we are respectful, kind and empathetic)
  • Kaitiakitanga (we are guardians of Te Ao Māori and our  world)
We are proud to embed Tikanga Māori principles across the school and host the total immersion Rūmaki unit, Te Rōpū Aroha Ki Te Reo, which is a vibrant living expression of language and culture within our community.

Our Commitment to Learning

Our school vision is clear; Mana Rangatahi – Empowering Young People. We believe in supporting every student to reach their academic potential while developing their unique identity with pride. We champion an inclusive, innovative curriculum that focuses on both student achievement and wellbeing. We value dynamic teaching, leveraging digital technology, and offering diverse opportunities in the creative arts and sports, including our local Surf Academy and commitment to Environmental and Outdoor Education.

At Raglan Area School, we are partners in your child’s education. We encourage all parents and whānau to be actively involved, working with us to ensure success in a safe and supportive learning environment.

We look forward to connecting with you. Please feel free to explore this website to learn more about our programmes, our staff, and the exciting events happening at kura.

Ngā mihi nui
