Some Free Rock Quest
Congratulations to Sasha, Jack, Emily, Dughall, Sven, Joel and Kate who competed last weekend in the Smoke Free Rock Quest. While they did not gain either of the top two spaces to go forward to the Nationals, we are very proud of their efforts and commitment.
Remodeled and new buildings update
Rebecca and Jane and their students have moved into a new D1. They are delighted with the new and warm space and of course Celia and Amy are now eager to join them. Celia probably at the end of term and Amy, hopefully by end of term 3. Though Marian will miss them from her environment she is also looking forward to reinstating our library.
A second building team began today and they are working on the bottom basketball courts preparing for the two new classrooms to be delivered at the end of term. So again please be aware that parts of the school will be cordoned off from access while they prepare for these buildings. We expect to be able to move in sometime in term three with our two Year 9 classes.
New Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations. How does that affect our kura Tuck Shop
The school tuck shop has required us to rethink how it works. While there have been applications, we are looking at the new health and safety and food hygiene regulations so that a more appropriate contract can be drawn up for a provider. You will already be aware that for any children who are hungry we provide breakfasts and carry supplies of food. The BOT are gathering the new protocols together this week and we will invite applicants to come in and discuss how this may impact on their applications.
Voluntary work welcome
Again a reminder that if you wish to be involved in voluntary work at the school please feel free to come and discuss this with me. Gardening, library work, resource management etc are all volunteer opportunities that would be appreciated.
A grateful thanks
My thanks to Vicky and Savita, who have covered the office in the absence of firstly Karen, and currently Sue. We appreciate their support and awhi for our students, staff, and parents.
Nga mihi
Malcolm
