A message from Raglan Police
Police have been working with Raglan Area School and the Waikato District Council to improve the safety of our Raglan Area School Students during pick up and drop off times. Traffic congestion, inconsiderate parking and parking in a manner that obstructs the flow of traffic adds to the concerns for the safety of the students.
In order to improve the safety of the students there are a few simple things you as whanau can do to assist:
- Utilise alternative areas for pick-ups and drop-offs. Either the bottom of East Street where students can take the short walkway to school, Raglan West with a short walk across the bridge, or Stewart Street.
- Consider delaying collecting Seniors; by 3:10 pm the buses have left, and the area gets let congested. So, we ask that if you can, delay your pick-up time.
- Most importantly: park legally, do not park on the grass, yellow lines, bus stops, or in a manner which is blocking the road for 2 lanes of traffic. This creates a safety risk, it reduces visibility for pedestrians and traffic, and makes the road more congested.
If we all work together to do our part, we can improve the safety of our students at these times.
