Message from our Raglan Area School Board of Trustees
Kia ora e te Whānau
The Raglan Area School Board of Trustees has been advised that the Principal and Teachers of our school who are members of the Post Primary Teachers Association (PPTA) and New Zealand Educational Institute (NZEI) unions will be taking a one day strike action this Thursday, 16 March 2023.
The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff, and has decided that our school can NOT provide normal teaching as well as supervision on this day, therefore, the school will officially be closed for teaching and supervision on the day of the strike.
Accordingly, it is important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children (in particular those under 14 years of age) during the period of the strike as no teaching and lessons will be provided.
Support staff will be onsite, however, teaching staff will not be sufficient to teach and supervise students.
This is a significant event nationwide and the Board of Trustee’s decision concerning our students’ safety has not been made lightly. We respectfully ask that you make appropriate arrangements for students to not attend school on Thursday, March 16 2023.
It is important to also note for those students who travel by bus to school that Raglan Area School bus services will NOT run on the day of the strike, this Thursday as the school will be closed.
Thank you for your understanding. Should you have any concerns or queries regarding this closure please make contact with the school office as soon as possible.
E hara taku toa i te toa takitahi, he toa takitini – My strength is not as an individual, but as a collective.
Ngaa mihi nui,
Sian Atkinson and Sonya Drysdale
Co-Presiding Members of Raglan Area School Board of Trustees
